Who we are

With a deep heritage and history of service and innovation, the Irish Voluntary Healthcare Association (IVHA) represents a network of independent, not-for-profit hospitals and hospices, each operated by people deeply dedicated to the people who use their services.

Our goal is to help bring about a healthcare system in which our members have the autonomy to provide the highest standards of care, within a robust and resilient national partnership ecosystem enabled to deliver a healthier, more vibrant Ireland for everyone.

Our Members

The member hospitals and hospices that IVHA represents together employ over 30,000 staff. They account for 40% of the annual budget that the Health Service Executive (HSE) spends on acute hospitals in Ireland. Because of our independent nature, IVHA is uniquely empowered to shape and develop innovative service models that will help our members to meet the emerging needs of the Irish healthcare system.

We champion innovation

Voluntary hospitals are structured in a way that enables them to trial, evaluate, and implement innovative treatments more quickly, for the benefit of both patients and staff. From artificial intelligence (AI) to telemedicine, our members embrace innovations and technologies that have the potential to transform, accelerate, and simplify healthcare, making it more flexible, accessible, and reliable.
